Surprisingly disappointing

Of course, the ballet, the music, the story by themselves are amazing. Their quality is not to be proven or discussed anymore. What bothered me during this show, and what makes me say that it was disappointing, is the performance of the dancers, which was surprisingly average. It was the first time I went to see a show by the American Ballet Theatre, and as I understood they were pretty famous, I was expecting a performance ranking from 'very acceptable' to 'very good'. On the contrary, on the day of the show, the dancers seemed to be not fully prepared, as if they still were at a stage of rehearsals. For example, one of the dancers simply fell down during the first Act, also, one dancer missed her entry, and had to join her partners by walking across the stage to take her empty spot. Those are two noticeable occurrences, but there was also an obvious overall desynchronization among the dancers. It was sincerely the first time I saw such a low-level performance from a national ballet company. As a conclusion, I highly recommend everyone to go see 'Giselle' as it is an amazing piece of art, but not by the American Ballet Theatre!
